Week 23 (2026) in M&A and Private Equity🛰️🇪🇸
Transactions of the Week (June 1 - 7)
Hi, I’m Fran Hidalgo-Barquero, Partner at Albia IMAP. This is a weekly newsletter covering M&A and Private Equity transactions in Spain. Contact: Email, LinkedIn.
It was a real honour for Ricardo Dávila and me to accept this award on behalf of Albia a few days ago at the University of Salamanca.
As many of you know, our connection with this historic institution goes far beyond the Family Business Chair. The company we founded ten years ago actually took its first steps in its halls. In many ways, this made the recognition even more meaningful.
The event was also a great moment to reflect on what drives us. We are passionate about our work, of course, but even more about the role that M&A and Private Equity can play in strengthening the business fabric and, ultimately, contributing to society’s broader well-being. Supporting education and talent development is another pillar we strongly believe in and are proud to promote.
• Ferrer, a Catalan pharmaceutical group, has sold its over‑the‑counter (OTC) portfolio—including the flagship analgesic Gelocatil—to French company Cooper Consumer Health. The deal aligns with Ferrer’s strategy to become a specialist drug manufacturer focused on vascular, pulmonary, interstitial, and rare neurological diseases. Cooper aims to strengthen its Spanish market position, building on previous acquisitions such as Viatris’s OTC assets. Ferrer’s OTC division generated about €40 million in revenue and will be replaced by a focus on specialty products. 1
• GPF Partners, a leading Spanish private‑equity firm, has acquired a 95% stake in Beedigital (Metric Capital), valuing the company at roughly €100 million enterprise value. These purchases mark Mirai’s entry into the environmental services and circular‑economy sector, targeting roughly €100 million in revenue and about 300 jobs by 2026. Afesa generated €65 million in 2025 with 190 employees across three sites, while Mendiola earned €14 million in 2025 employing 95 staff. The deal gives Prim access to over 43,000 professionals, digital sales capabilities and a scalable platform for international growth, especially in France. The acquisition aligns with Prim’s inorganic‑growth strategy outlined in its new strategic plan that aims to double revenues to more than €504 million and increase EBITDA to €81 million by 2031.
