Weekly collection of transactions (September 30 - October 6)
• Babel Group has entered a strategic partnership with Mubadala Capital. Mubadala will take a majority stake in Babel, supporting its growth strategy “Hyperspace 2029,” aiming for €1 billion in revenue by 2029. This move follows the exit of Babel’s former investor, Aurica Capital. 1
• Global Dominion Access has reached an agreement to sell its industrial services division to Serveo, a company owned by the Spanish private equity firm Portobello Capital. This deal includes Dominion’s operations in industrial services such as maintenance, environmental services, and specialized coatings. The sale is part of Dominion’s strategy to streamline its business and focus on its core areas. 2
• El Corte Inglés has expanded into the data center business by acquiring the remaining 50% of KIO Networks España, a move that complements its diversification strategy. The company, which already held a 50% stake in the Spanish subsidiary of Mexico’s KIO Networks, now fully controls the data center operator. KIO Networks España manages a data center in Murcia and is developing another in Paterna (Valencia), expected to be operational by 2025. 3
• Galenicum Health (Península Capital) has acquired a portfolio of dermatological products from Ferrer, which includes brands like Perme-cure, Retirides, Ciclochem, and Peitel, covering treatments for skin inflammation, fungal infections, and scabies. This acquisition is expected to double the annual sales of Galenicum’s dermatology division to over €20 million. 4
• Belgian truffle specialist Gudrun (Down2Earth Capital) has been acquired by Spanish chocolate producer Natra (Capvest), which is a portfolio company of the private equity firm CapVest. This acquisition aims to form a new global platform that will enhance Natra’s market presence and expand its product range in the premium chocolate and confectionery sector. 5
• AGQ Labs (Portobello Capital), has acquired the Portuguese laboratory Labiagro. This acquisition strengthens AGQ Labs’ presence in Portugal, where Labiagro has been operating for over two decades. The new entity, AGQ Labiagro, will enhance its service offerings in quality control and food safety, particularly in pesticide residue analysis, microbiology, and agronomy. 6
• Tubos Reunidos has sold non-productive facilities in Sestao and Pamplona for €18.75 million. The Sestao facilities were acquired by Gescrap, a company focused on sustainable material recovery. The Pamplona site, previously closed by Tubos Reunidos in 2022, was sold to Servicios Ecológicos Navarra (SEN), a waste management company. 7
• Globant, an Argentina-based technology company, has acquired Spanish IT services consulting firm Common Management Solutions. 8
• Ángel Camacho Alimentación has acquired the Portuguese company Maçarico S.A. as part of its strategic plan running until 2026. Maçarico, founded in 1930, specializes in products such as pickled vegetables, condiments, lupins, and Piri-Piri sauces, and operates in over 50 countries. This acquisition will allow Ángel Camacho, known for brands like La Vieja Fábrica and Fragata olives, to expand its product portfolio and enter new market categories, further enhancing its global presence. 9
• Collosa has acquired a 75% stake in the Asturian group JCN. This acquisition allows Collosa, a leading construction company from Valladolid, to expand its service portfolio by incorporating JCN’s expertise in industrial maintenance, particularly in hydrodemolition and structural concrete repair. The move also strengthens Collosa’s presence in the Asturias region and neighboring markets. Pablo Justel, former administrator of JCN, will join Collosa as the head of the industrial maintenance division, ensuring continuity and stability in operations. 10
